Two professionally accredited Graduate degrees in Architecture are available in the School of Architecture at UNC Charlotte.  The Masters of Architecture I and the Masters of Architecture II.

The Masters of Architecture I (MArch I) program is designed for people ho have completed an undergraduate degree in a discipline other than architecture (such as English, Engineering, Law, etc).  Students who pursue this academic program range from people who are seeking a career change to people who want to pursue a liberal arts undergraduate academic program prior to embarking upon architectural studies.  The MArch I is a full-time program and it is three years and two summers in length (eighty-nine credit hours).

The Master of Architecture I application process consists of the following steps and components:

A. Application to UNC Charlotte Graduate Admissions

Submit the following application package to the UNC Charlotte Office of Graduate Admissions:

1. On-line Graduate School Application available from the UNC Charlotte Office of Graduate Admissions at: http://www.uncc.edu/gradmiss/p_app_instructions.html and Application Fee.
2. Official transcripts from all previous college-level institution(s) to UNC Charlotte Office of Graduate Admissions
3. Official GRE (and TOEFL if applicable) test scores
4. Statement of Purpose that explains your reasons for wanting to be admitted to the School of Architecture
5. Three recommendations from persons familiar with the applicant's personal and professional qualifications

B. Application to the School of Architecture

Submit the following application package to the School of Architecture:

1. Statement of Purpose that explains your reasons for wanting to be admitted to the School of Architecture
2. Resume that includes educational and professional experience
3. 8-½ x 11 bound portfolio of design/creative work (Portfolios will ONLY BE RETURNED IF YOU PROVIDE an oversized self addressed, return postage envelope according to U.S. Postal Service and/or Express Mail Standards). Applicants should submit examples of their previous work. This could include writing (such as papers, articles, etc.) creative work (art, photography, etc.) or anything else that will give the review committee a sense of accomplishment and creative aptitude.

The deadline for receipt of your completed application to UNC Charlotte Graduate Admissions and the application package to the UNC Charlotte School of Architecture for the start of the MArch I program in the fall semester is January 15th.

The School of Architecture will host a day-long Open House on April 8, 2011 for those accepted into the MArch and MUDD programs for Summer and Fall 2011. This event begins at 10:00am and concludes at 7:00pm. Prospective students will meet faculty and students as well as tour the School's facilities and Research Centers. Applicants formally accepted should RSVP Reedena Newlon at rwnewlon@uncc.edu no later than one week prior to the event.
