FALL 2011 SCHOLARSHIPS

Application period: November 1 - 15, 2011

 

The AIA Charlotte Scholarship Criteria:1) Demonstrate innovation and design excellence, 2) Demonstrate financial need, 3) Good academic standing, 4) Preference given to minority students (racial and ethnic). Multiple Awards may be given: typical Award Amount: $1,000 to $2,000.

 

The AIA Winston-Salem Scholarship Criteria: 1) Demonstrate high academic merit, 2) Demonstrate financial need, 3) Be enrolled as full-time student, 4) First preference will be given to a student from the geographic area covered by the Winston-Salem Section of AIANC as defined on the AIANC web site. Open to undergraduate and graduate students. Typical Award Amount: $500.

 

SoA Student Scholarship Criteria: 1) This fund will be used to award talented and deserving students enrolled in the College of Architecture. Multiple Awards may be given: typical Award Amount: $1,500.

 

SoA Alumni Scholarship Criteria: 1) Rising 4th or 5th year undergraduate or graduate student enrolled full time in the SoA, 2) Recipient demonstrates high academic merit, 3) Recipient demonstrates unmet financial need, 4) Recipient demonstrates innovation and design excellence, 5) Recipient demonstrates strong leadership qualities, 6) May be awarded to the same recipient more than once provided no other eligible applicants are available and/or meet the criteria, 7) Minority students are encouraged to apply. Multiple Awards may be given: typical Award Amount: $2,500 to $5,000.


The LS3P College of Architecture Scholarship Criteria: 1) Student is in good standing with the College of Architecture, 2) Demonstrates financial need, 3) Preference given to a minority student. Multiple Awards will be given: typical Award Amount: $1,000.


The Boardman Architecture Honor Fellowship Criteria: 1) Demonstrate academic excellence, (minimum 3.0 GPA), 2) Demonstrate financial need, 3) Graduate and undergraduate students, 4) Selection based on quality of Design Studio performance, overall architectural studies performance, and general university studies performance. (Prior scholarship recipient is eligible for consideration of an additional scholarship in subsequent years should they meet scholarship criteria.) Typical Award Amount: Five undergraduate awards of $1,000 each (one scholarship awarded per studio year: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, & 5th). Two graduate awards of $1,000 each.


The S. Scott Ferebee, Jr., FAIA Endowed Scholarship Criteria: 1) Graduate student in architecture curriculum, 2) Merit based. Typical Award Amount: $1,500.

 

The Shook/Kelley Design Scholarship Criteria: 1) Rising fifth year student in the College of Architecture in good academic standing, 2) Focus on design excellence and innovation. Typical Award Amount: $1,000.

 


SPRING 2012 SCHOLARSHIPS

Application period: TBA (Spring 2012 Semester)


AIANC Piedmont Section Scholarship Criteria: 1) Recipient should demonstrate high academic merit, 2) Recipient must demonstrate financial need, 3) Recipient must be/will be enrolled as a full time student, 4) Preference given to student from the area covered by the Piedmont Section of AIA NC as defined on the AIA North Carolina web-site, 5) This scholarship may be awarded to the same recipient more than once provided no other eligible applicants are available and/or meet the criteria. Typical Award Amount: $1,000 - $2,000.

 

AIA NC Eastern Section Scholarship Criteria: 1) Must be awarded to a student from geographic area represented by AIA North Carolina Eastern Section (generally Kitty Hawk [Outer Banks] to Rockingham, excluding Wilmington area). For further details of area as defined by the Section, visit the AIA North Carolina website, 2) Demonstrate high academic merit, 3) Demonstrate financial need, 4) Undergraduate (years 1- 4) pursuing Bachelor of Architecture or fifth year Bachelor of Architecture, 5) Scholarship may be awarded to same student more than once provided no other eligible candidates are available, 6) Scholarship recipient will be invited and encouraged by the College of Architecture to attend to fall board meeting of the Section, however this is not a requirement for award. Typical Award Amount: $1,400.


Liz Hair Scholarship Criteria: 1) Undergraduate or graduate student in architecture curriculum, 2) merit based, 3) preference will be given to a female student. Typical Award Amount: $1,000.

 

Wright McGraw Beyer Graduate Scholarship Criteria: 1) Recipient exhibits innovation and design excellence, 2) Recipient demonstrates strong leadership qualities, 3) Recipient must demonstrate unmet financial need, 4) Recipient should demonstrate high academic merit, 5) Recipient must be enrolled/will be enrolled as full-time student, 6) Scholarship may be used for student recruitment/retention purposes. Typical Award Amount: $1,000
