Dance Department is the only department statewide, regionally or nationally to have a course in Vintage Jazz as part of the required curriculum.

The Department of Dance established the 1st undergraduate certificate at UNC Charlotte in 1999 with its Professional Training Certificate in Dance partnering with the North Carolina Dance Theatre
The SoA is comprised of approximately 250 undergraduate and 100 graduate students, with 25 full-time faculty and approximately 10 visiting instructors.

To become a licensed architect, an individual must possess a Professional degree in architecture from a program accredited by NAAB.

The Department’s string program has grown rapidly to include three orchestras, and an extensive chamber music program.

The Department of Music generates over 60 performances annually.
The University Chorale recently completed a its first-ever international tour, performing in Rome, Venice, Florence, and other Italian cities.
Since 2002, the Master of Architecture Student Society (MASS) has staged CriticalMASS, an all-day symposium of thesis work from Schools of Architecture in the Southeast.
The SoA is only 1 of 2 architecture programs in the country that offer a Bachelor of Arts, a Bachelor of Architecture, and a Master of Architecture within the same School.
The BA in Dance Education with courses in place since 1978, is one of the two first programs licensing teachers in dance education in the North Carolina.
The SoA was recognized by “Architect Magazine” as one of the top five design build programs in the country.
