Incoming Freshman Dance Scholarship
Applications are due February 17, 2017 for those attending the February 24 audition.
We are very excited about recruiting talented students who would like to pursue a major in Dance at UNC Charlotte, located in one of the most culturally rich cities in the Southeast. Our department offers up to three individual scholarships of $4,000 distributed over four years for incoming freshmen. These awards consider financial need and potential to excel in the areas of dance. This scholarship requires an interview component that will follow the Placement Audition. One-Time Student Acheivement Dance Scholarship Information
Applications for these awards to existing students are due March 1, 2017.
The Department of Dance offers scholarships to CONTINUING DANCE/DANCE EDUCATION MAJORS who have demonstrated consistent contributions to the Department and have made significant progress in dance and related studies. This may include but is not limited to your work in courses, assignments, community work (including teaching in studios and/or community programs) and participation in relevant student organizations. These are one-time awards. Students may reapply each year.
Scholarship students contribute to the Department of Dance
- BA Dance and BA Dance Education Majors are required to audition for both Fall and Spring dance department student concerts except during semesters when enrolled in Student Teaching;
- All recipients will usher a minimum of 4 performances per academic year;
- All recipients will act as goodwill ambassadors or assistants in all dance related events including but not limited to scholarship auditions; guest artist residencies; student performances; educational dance concerts; faculty concerts; dance faculty searches; UNC Charlotte EXPLORE and;
- All recipients will organize a student mentoring session for all majors and minors in collaboration with other award recipients.
