Admissions

All students who wish to minor in music, major in music, or pursue graduate studies in music must first apply to the university.  Undergraduate students must apply to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Graduate students must apply to the Graduate School.

Once you have applied to the university, you must complete an Audition Form to schedule an audition on one of the following dates. You must submit this form at least one week prior to your audition.

AUDITION DATES

Friday, November 11, 2016
Friday, January 6, 2017
Friday, January 27, 2017
Saturday, February 18, 2017
Saturday, March 18, 2017
Saturday, April 8, 2017
Wednesday, August 16, 2017

Your audition will provide an opportunity for you to display your abilities, meet our faculty, and ask questions about the Department of Music.  Once admitted to the Department and the University, students will take placement tests in music theory, aural skills, sight-singing, and class piano (optional for class piano).  Click here for more information.

The audition is the most important factor in determining whether or not you will be accepted into the music program. Please refer to the Audition Repertoire Guidelines and prepare your audition accordingly.  You should also dress professionally (business attire) for your audition.  Although students are encouraged to bring their own accompanists, the Department of Music will provide a pianist if you inform us of your needs at least one week prior to your audition. Pre-recorded accompaniments are not acceptable.
