The Department of Music presents a Faculty & Friends Concert featuring the Mirasol Quartet, an award-winning saxophone quartet from Texas.
The Mirasol Quartet is dedicated to uniting the innovation of collaborative artistry with the mission of educational outreach. Widely acclaimed for their performances on the national stage, the ensemble has established an active presence in the chamber music scene. The Mirasol Quartet was awarded the Gold Medal in the Senior Wind Division at the 42nd Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, the Grand Prize in the 2015/2016 ENKOR Chamber Music Competition, and the 2016 American Prize in Chamber Ensemble Performance. Mirasol draws its name and musical inspiration from the intensity of the west Texas sun.
Formed in 2013 at Texas Tech University, the quartet consists of James Barger, Andrew Reinhart, Ben Donnell, and Ben Still, a UNC Charlotte alumnus who is serving as a visiting faculty member this fall.
Tickets are $10; $8 for UNC Charlotte faculty, staff, and alumni and students. College of Arts + Architecture majors receive a complimentary ticket with the 49erArtsLink program.
