Dance Department Hosts Residencies Jan 30-Feb 4

The Department of Dance will host two special residencies during the week of January 30, culminating in performances on February 3 and 4.

AGA Collaborative, a three-member dance group that includes UNC Charlotte Associate Professor of Dance Gretchen Alterowitz, Alison Bory, and Amanda Hamp, will collaborate with students to create a new dance work, Anthem for a Porcelain Generation, which the students will perform on the Spring Dance Concert in April. Other residency activities include a public workshop on collaborative artistic methods, a lecture about AGA’s creative process by Department of Theatre dramaturg Jeanmarie Higgins, and two performances of their evening-length win. place. show. on February 3.

On February 4, the Department of Dance will present its first-ever Alumni Concert, an opportunity to showcase original choreography by five alumni, who are now dance educators, arts administrators, and independent artists working across the South. During their time on campus, beginning January 30, Audrey Baran, Ali Duffy, Madeline Jazz Harvey, Caitlyn Swett, and Melissa Word will teach master classes to current students and participate in a career panel discussion. The culminating concert features seven works performed by the alumni and guest artists.
