NC Dance Festival Comes to UNC Charlotte

January 11, 2013

The UNC Charlotte Department of Dance will host the NC Dance Festival on January 25 and 26 in the Anne R. Belk Theater of Robinson Hall. The NC Dance Festival (NCDF) is an annual showcase of North Carolina dance artists that travels to five communities statewide. UNC Charlotte is the tour’s final stop. Unique in the country and now a North Carolina institution, the event was founded in 1991 by Jan Van Dyke and John Gamble. The Festival aims to increase the audience in NC for dance, building awareness of and appreciation for the wide variety of dance artists we have in the state.

The NC Dance Festival touring roster consists of eight artists/companies that apply in February and are chosen in mid-March. Among this year’s touring artists is E.E. Balcos, associate professor of dance and coordinator of the NCDF at UNC Charlotte, with his company, E.E. MOTION.

Each evening’s program is different, featuring four diverse works. Performances start at 7:30. Tickets are $14 for general admission, $9 for seniors and university staff, and $6 for students.
