Associate Professor of Art Maja Godlewska and Assistant Professor of Music Jessica Lindsey have been awarded 2017 Regional Artist Project Grants from the Arts & Science Council (ASC). They are among 32 awardees chosen from nearly 100 applicants.
Given annually, Regional Artist Project Grants support artistic creation by funding professional development opportunities or the purchase or rental of equipment. Awards range from $400 to $2000.
Godlewska will use her 2017 grant to purchase oil paints to create a body of paintings that explore the notion of “ tropical paradise,” the spectacle of global tourism, and a contemporary traveler’s experiences of nature and the sublime mediated by electronic devices. She will be an artist in resisdence at The Studios of Key West in Florida in May and June. Lindsey's 2017 grant allows her to complete a CD recording of music for clarinet and piano by women composers.
