Theatre Alumna Publishes New Book

A new book edited by Caridad Svich, the Department of Theatre 2016 Distinguished Alumna, will launch on June 25 at the Theatre Communications Group national conference in Washington, D.C.  Audience Revolution: Dispatches from the Field presents perspectives on audience engagement and performance spaces from a wide range of theatre practitioners, including playwrights, directors, and actors. The book will be available publicly on July 19.

Since graduating from UNC Charlotte in 1985, Caridad Svich has written more than 40 full-length plays, a variety of short works, and 15 translations. Among her many awards are a 2012 OBIE Award for Lifetime Achievement in the theatre, a 2012 Edgerton Foundation New Play Award and the National New Play Network rolling world premiere for Guapa, and the 2011 American Theatre Critics Association Primus Prize for her play The House of the Spirits, based on the Isabel Allende novel.
