Give a little general information about yourself: how did you become interested in the arts?

I began dancing when I was three years old and fell in love with it. Since then, dance has been a major part of my life. Growing up I also had a strong connection to books and writing. Combining dance with reading and writing has helped make my college career so far a great one.

Why did you apply to the Arts + Architecture Honors Program?

I applied to the Arts + Architecture Honors Program to surround myself with hardworking and passionate students who are driven to furthering their studies of art and the art world.

What kind of career do you hope to have?

Eventually I hope to be able to write about dance in different magazines or newspapers while keeping my hand in the physical side of dance by exploring the many dance company options around the country.

What is your favorite thing about the dance department?

My favorite thing about the dance department here at UNC Charlotte is the professors. They make the program what it is today, with their experience, advice, kindness, and encouragement. They find the greatness in every student that comes into their classes ready to work hard.

Do you participate in any community cultural activities or work in the Charlotte arts or design community?

I am currently the Communication Officer for M.O.V.E Dance Alliance, which is a student choreography organization on campus open to dance majors and non-majors alike, with a showcase at the end of each semester. We participated in the Dance Marathon for the Levine’s Children’s Hospital last November and raised over $500 for the hospital.

When you are not in class, studying, working or rehearsing, what do you like to do for fun?

For fun, I like to hang out with my friends, watch movies, and explore uptown Charlotte for fun new things to do.
