Give a little general information about yourself: how did you become interested in the arts/design?

In my family I’m the youngest of three. I‘m a huge history buff, and almost like it as much as I like design. I became interested in art/design by the Wachovia Center (Wells Fargo now) in Winston-Salem when I was little. I was always impressed by the shape of the structure as we passed it on Interstate 40, and how it contrasted from the buildings around it. To this day I see it as one of the great buildings in the Triad.

Why did you apply to the Arts + Architecture Honors Program?

I applied to the Arts + Architecture Honors Program to take advantage of the small class sizes as well as challenge myself and expand my knowledge in the College.

What kind of career do you hope to have?

Mainly I see myself becoming a city planner with my major; I’ve always been interested with the position and the roles which pertain to it. But, I would also be happy having my own firm as an architect.

What is your favorite thing about UNC Charlotte and the College of Arts + Architecture?

Personally I like the suburb feel of the campus with all the trees and the trains which go by. It reminds me of home, but it an hour and a half away. I also like the community aspect in the College of Arts + Architecture. It’s like one big family, and everyone has each other’s back whether it’s with work or life in general.

When you are not in class, studying, or working what do you like to do for fun?

When I’m not working sleep is blessing, but besides from sleep I enjoy riding my bike around campus as well as reading a couple of books now and again. I also especially enjoy the fencing and garden clubs on campus; they keep me energized when things slow down.
