Michael Spencer, AIA, CDT, LEED AP BD+C, teaches Architectural Design Studio with an emphasis on the discovery of beauty, craft, story, tectonics, and the power of design.  He is an architect and design manager with Gensler, a global firm with offices, clients, and projects around the globe.  Michael’s professional work has included a wide variety of projects including workplace, commercial office buildings, higher education, high rise residential, mission critical, creative media, and historic preservation.  Michael believes that excellence in design combined with quality in implementation and technical integration lead to the creation of spaces that inspire people and positively impact the world.

Michael holds a Master in Architecture from The University of California at Berkeley (2000), and a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Kent State University (1998).

Michael has previously lived and worked in Akron, Florence Italy, San Francisco, Chicago, and presently resides in Charlotte.  He is currently part of a distinguished group of individuals participating in the Gensler University Global Leaders program, a program that seeks to develop next generation design leadership on a global platform.
