Charles C. Hight Architecture Library

The Charles C. Hight Architecture Library is located on the second floor of Storrs. It is the only branch library at the University. The primary focus of the collection is 20th and 21st-century design, architects, and the built environment. The Architecture Library collection includes: books, audio visuals, periodicals, Fifth Year and Graduate Thesis documents, drawings, and plans. For additional resources, please visit Atkins Library. The Architecture Library operates under the policies of Atkins Library.

Audio Visual Equipment: Digital cameras, carts with IMac computers and projectors, TV/VCRs, projectors, lights, backdrop cloths, Smart TVs, portable scanners, various HDMI cords and adapters, digital camcorders, and tripods are available at the Architecture Library circulation desk. Checkout is exclusive to CoA+A students, faculty, and staff and is for 24 hours. Overdue fines are $1.00 per hour.

Visual Resources Collection: Hight Library is home to the College of Arts + Architecture's Visual Resources Collection, a sustainable collection of digital images, sound, and video resources used in the educational service of teaching and learning, research, public events, and programming collaborations.

History: In 1993 a collaborative effort began between the College of Architecture and Atkins Library to establish what eventually became known as the Architectural Resource Center (ARC). When Dean Charles C. Hight, FAIA stepped down as dean in 2001, the name was changed to the Charles C. Hight Architecture Resource Center, in recognition of Dean Hight’s service to the College and University. In 2007 the ARC became the Charles C. Hight Architecture Library, reflecting its designation as the university’s first branch library.
