Rowe Galleries hosts A New Mark: An Exhibition of Drawings by Jessica Burke, Anna Kenar, and Jason Watson, curated by Adam Justice.
Although still so important and relevant, the act of drawing is often hidden behind multimedia layers in contemporary art. Some artists, however, often keep drawing at the forefront of their process, allowing it visible precedence. Jessica Burke (JB) and Anna Kenar, art professors at UNC Charlotte, and Jason Watson, art professor at Central Piedmont Community College, retain drawing as the centerpiece of their creative practices. This exhibition includes work by all three artists and asks us to rediscover the importance of drawing in contemporary art.
The show will run January 9-27, with a reception and artist talk January 24 from 5:00-7:00 pm.
