Lecture: Sylvia Lavin, UCLA

Internationally respected critic, historian, and curator Sylvia Lavin is the Director of the Critical Studies and M.A./Ph.D. programs in the Department of Architecture and Urban Design at UCLA. She has received grants and awards from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, the Getty Research Institute, the Kress Foundation, and the Graham Foundation. Her most recent books include Kissing Architecture, published by Princeton University Press and The Flash in the Pan and Other Forms of Architectural Contemporaneity

Her lecture is entitled "The Duck and the Document." Originally presented as Salvage in the School of Architecture at Princeton University in 2016, her exhibition, The Duck and the Document, opened at SCI-Arc in the spring of 2017 and will be exhibited in expanded form at the Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA) in 2018.
