Melissa Farling
April 23, 2021 - 2:00 PM to April 24, 2021 - 1:59 PM
Virtual - Zoom

The School of Architecture presents a free public lecture by Melissa Farling, principal at Gould Evans and an alumna of UNC Charlotte. A Q&A will follow.

Throughout her career, Melissa Farling has focused on social justice issues in public projects at every scale. Believing that empathy and respect are the foundations for conversation and design, she brings multi-disciplinary expertise to the firm to facilitate more informed and rigorous exploration. Long observing that architecture can either "uplift" or "degrade," she served for ten years as the co-chair for the American Institute of Architects' Academy of Justice for Architecture Research Committee, during which time she co-organized the first series of workshops focused on the relationship between criminal justice, neuroscience, and architecture. In 2014 she was named to the AIA College of Fellows.

Farling was the 2017 Distinguished Alumna in the School of Architecture. Read more about her here.
