Give a little general information about yourself: how did you become interested in dance? How old were you when you began dancing?
Ever since I was young, I have always had a passion for dance that my mother and I shared. My mother’s background and experience in dance is what made me fall in love with this particular art form. At the age of nine, I committed to a home studio called Precision Dance Center located in Charlotte, NC. While training and performing with Precision, I also attended an arts magnet school, Northwest School of the Arts. Training at both schools allowed me to really improve upon this craft.
What kind of career do you hope to have?
After graduating, I hope to start working and training with a performing company along with teaching within my local community to further my career and knowledge about dance.
What is your favorite thing about UNC Charlotte, the College of Arts + Architecture, or the department you are in?
My favorite thing about UNC Charlotte’s Department of Dance is the connections that are made between students, staff, and professors. The Department of Dance is continuously helping students network and reach our outside community locally and internationally. Through those connections, we gain so much knowledge about the art of dance that is happening around the world.
When you are not in class, studying, working or rehearsing, what do you like to do for fun?
When I am not busy with class, studying, and working, I love to spend time catching up with my family and friends. I also enjoy going to the gym and taking outside dance classes at local studios around the Charlotte area.
