Give a little general information about yourself: how did you become interested in the arts/design?
At a young age I’ve always been interested in art; it was my favorite subject and it became a way for me to express my feelings. My love for art started at Farmington Woods Elementary School and developed over time at Apex High School where I was able to take AP Art and truly develop my skills. It’s always been hard for me to describe what draws me toward art, but when I’m creating my work it feels right, like I belong.
Why did you apply to the Arts + Architecture Honors Program?
I applied to this honors program to reach a new level understanding for art. I wanted to get a more comprehensive college experience. When I read about the Arts+ Architecture Honors Program I liked what the program stood for and I wanted to pursue something I knew would make me a more well-rounded artist and person.
What kind of career do you hope to have?
I’m still unsure about what career I would hope to have but I know I would love to have technology and art influences in my future job.
What is your favorite thing about the Department of art & Art History?
So far I’m enjoying all the staff associated with this department. For example I can already see a change in my thoughts and creative process. Thanks to my 2D Design teacher, Mrs. Rothrock, I’ve had to challenge myself in new ways because of the limitations I was presented with.
When you are not in class, studying, or working, what do you like to do for fun?
When I’m not in class studying I like to go to the gym. During my high school career my other passion was volleyball. I enjoy playing sand volleyball and indoor. When I can’t play I’m usually in the gym working on being a better athlete.
