Bachelor of Arts in Architecture

Give a little general information about yourself: how did you become interested in architecture?
I've always been interested in architecture, even when I was in elementary school. I was that kid that always wanted to play with Legos or who made a tower and was mad when someone knocked it over. In high school, I took an interior design class and it made me fall in love with design and architecture even more.
What kind of career do you hope to have?
Honestly, I am open to any career in architecture that helps me travel the world and learn about different design experiences. In the future, I hope to become a licensed architect and maybe, just maybe, open up my own architectural firm.
What is your favorite thing about UNC Charlotte, the College of Arts + Architecture, or the SoA?
My favorite thing about the College of Arts + Architecture is that they encourage us to explore and attend other arts events. We are given tickets to attend different plays and performances that can influence our designs and thought process. I'm also excited about the opportunities within the school - I'll be studying abroad with SoA to Rome, Italy for the Spring semester!
Do you participate in any community cultural activities, internships, or work in the Charlotte design community? If so, please describe.
I was a member of the National Organization of Minority Architects, now serving as a local member, and am a member of the American Institute of Architecture Students.
When you are not in class, studying, or working, what do you like to do for fun?
I am a member of the National Council of Negro Women and DIVAS Mentoring Program. Previously, I was a member of the Black Student Union. In the summer of 2018, I was able to be an Orientation Counselor and help bring the Class of 2022 as well as new transfer students. I also just finished up my term as a SOAR Student Coordinator, assisting the new Orientation Team.
