Give a little general information about yourself: how did you become interested in the arts?
My first year at UNC Charlotte I joined a student org on campus called QC Skits, were you create sketch comedy about the everyday life of college students and post it on YouTube. I got the opportunity to act in several of their sketches and realized I really love to perform. That eventually led me to taking an Acting 1 class with the amazing professor, Jill Bloede. I had such a great experience in that class that about three weeks before the course ended, I decided to switch my major from communications to theatre.
What kind of career do you hope to have?
I hope to have a career as a stage actor. I enjoy the thrill of performing in front of a live audience. I also would like to teach theatre to youth in underprivileged communities, with a focus on teaching socio-cultural and historical components of black contemporary theatre.
What is your favorite thing about the Department of Theatre?
My favorite thing about UNC Charlotte’s theatre department is the sense of community. I think UNC Charlotte’s theatre department does a great job of bringing to the forefront plays that speak to its students and their life. As a student I’m encouraged by the faculty to explore my craft and bring my own unique self in to my work.
When you are not in class, studying, working or rehearsing, what do you like to do for fun?
I love to go see movies. I think my first initial love for performance was watching films with my dad.
