Music Alum To Attend Prestigious Graduate Program in Spain

Recent music graduate Joey Rincon has been selected as one of only 14 guitarists worldwide to enter the Master in Classical Guitar Performance degree program at the University of Alicante in Spain.

The innovative program includes courses in solo guitar performance and technique taught by some of the premiere guitarists in the world, including Grammy Award-winning guitarist David Russell and faculty members from the Peabody Conservatory, the San Francisco Conservatory, the University of Southern California, the Royal Academy of Music in London, the Escuela Superior de Música de Cataluña (ESMUC), and the Conservatorio Superior de Música “Oscar Esplá” in Alicante. As part of their studies, students perform three recitals throughout the province of Alicante, study chamber music, take classes in conducing and in the physiology of instrumental performance, and complete a Master Thesis.

"The outstanding training I received at UNC Charlotte has prepared me for success on the international stage," says Rincon. "I am really excited about launching the next phase of my career in Spain."
