Theatre Department to Host Costume Society of America Regional Symposium

The Costumes Society of American Southeastern Region Symposium will occur in Charlotte Nov. 7-10.

The UNC Charlotte Department of Theatre will host the Costume Society of America 2019 Southeastern Region Symposium & Annual Meeting in Charlotte, November 7-10. Assistant Professor of Costume Design Aly Amidei is the symposium chair.

The symposium, entitled "Fashion Queens," will present original scholarship on the history of dress, adornment, and the future of fashion. Annie Carlano, Senior Curator of Craft, Design & Fashion at The Mint Museum, will deliver the keynote address.

The Costume Society of America (CSA) represents and serves museums, libraries, theaters, academia, apparel, merchandising, private collections, and re-enactment organizations. Its mission is to foster "an understanding of appearance and dress practices of people across the globe through research, education, preservation and design."
