Dance Professor Named CxC Faculty Fellow

Gretchen Alterowitz is a 2019-20 Communication Across the Curriculum Fellow.

Associate Professor of Dance Gretchen Alterowitz has been named a 2019-20 CxC Faculty Fellow in the Communication Across the Curriculum office. She is one of two new fellows selected through a competitive nomination and application process.

Since 2012, when the Department of Dance became a pilot department for Communication Across the Curriculum (CxC) initiatives, Alterowitz has served as a consultant in curriculum and course design and as a faculty mentor to Student Communication Consultants, peer mentors who assist students in Writing Intensive and Oral Communication courses. As a CxC Faculty Fellow, she will lead spring sessions of the New Faculty Academy and facilitate faculty conversations around teaching Writing Intensive and Oral Communication (W/O) courses.

Alterowitz teaches ballet technique, dance history, dance writing, and choreography and has focused her teaching at UNC Charlotte on strengthening undergraduate learning experiences, particularly in communication.
