Ailey Dancer Hope Boykin Gives Masterclass

A dancer from Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater gave a masterclass to UNC Charlotte dance students.

More than 30 dance students were treated to a rigorous but thrilling masterclass by Hope Boykin on Wednesday, February 26. Boykin, a native of Durham, North Carolina, is a longtime member of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. The revered modern dance company, founded by Alvin Ailey more than 60 years ago, performed two programs in Charlotte presented by the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center (PAC). The Blumenthal PAC provided the masterclass to the Department of Dance.

Ms. Boykin joined the Ailey Company in 2000. She has also danced with Philadanco and Complexions (as a founding member) and received a New York Dance and Performance (Bessie) Award. Learn more about her here.
