Art alumnus Austin Ballard’s work is the subject of a solo exhibition at Wave Hill, a public garden and galleries in The Bronx, NY. The show, RUMORS, will run May 19–June 24, 2018.

Ballard received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2010. Fabricating furniture using cane webbing and epoxy clay, he has constructed an immersive domestic setting, recalling Wave Hill’s history as a private home. Intended as functional sculpture, the forms are reminiscent of Victorian furniture, but explore innovation as well as tradition in their combination of contemporary technologies with handicrafts.
