Dance Students Study in New York

This winter, students in the Department of Dance have the opportunity to experience and study dance in New York City.

Led by professor Rachel Tucker and mentored by Tucker and professor Kim Jones, ten UNC Charlotte Dance students traveled to New York City December 1-4.  During the field trip, students took master classes with Ronald K Brown and at the Paul Taylor Dance Company studio, attended dance classes at many New York studios, auditioned for Broadway shows, and saw the Broadway shows The Color Purple and Holiday Inn, a  performance by Alvin Ailey American Dance Ensemble, and New York City Ballet's The Nutcracker. 

Three UNC Charlotte Dance upperclassman will attend winter intensives in New York, sponsored by the UNC Charlotte Dance Department. Lillian Willis will attend Winter Intensive at the Taylor School, the education arm of Paul Taylor American Modern Dance, January 2-12. Nathalia Raigosa and Laura Dearman will attend the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance Winter Instensive December 27-January 13. Students were chosen by audition.
