UNC Charlotte Director of Bands Shawn Smith conducted two concerts, on September 8 and 9, with the Banda Sinfόnica de la Provincia, a full-time professional band in Cόrdoba, Argentina. The concerts featured the world premiere of a clarinet concerto by James Lee III, an American composer, and took place in Cόrdoba's 19th-century opera house, the Teatro Libertador San Martín, and in the nearby city of Cruz del Eje. Dr. Smith conducts frequently in Brazil; this was his first appearance in Argentina.
