Monday, April 25, 2016

Three architecture students have been awarded Scholarships in Practice for the 2016-17 academic year:

Scott Barber: BB+M Scholarship in Practice
Yagmur Ersayin: C DESIGN Scholarship in Practice
Dean Crouch: CLARK NEXSEN Scholarship in Practice

The "Scholarship in Practice" is a combined scholarship/internship program that has been established in partnership with local architecture firms. Rising fifth-year (Bachelor of Architecture) students and graduate students are eligible to apply. Each Scholarship in Practice provides the recipient with a full-time summer internship, followed by a part-time internship during the student’s final year of architectural study, during which time each will receive a tuition scholarship in the amount of $5,000 ($2,500 fall / $2,500 spring).

“Building connections between education and practice better prepares our students for the professional life they will soon lead,” says School of Architecture Director Chris Jarrett. “An integrated internship in the context of architectural research and design practice as a component of architectural education is full of untapped potential, for the both the School and the profession.”

The School of Architecture received 13 applications for the 2016-17 awards. Applications for the 2017-2018 academic year will be accepted in January 2017.
