Assistant Professor of Voice Carl DuPont will sing the role of Hortensius in the upcoming Opera Carolina production of The Daughter of the Regiment. Performances take place November 10, 15, and 18 at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center’s Belk Theater in uptown Charlotte.

Dr. DuPont, a bass-baritone, made his singing debut as a child in the title role of Amahl and the Night Visitors and has since performed at The Glimmerglass Festival, El Palacio de Bellas Artes, Opera Company of Brooklyn, and Leipzig Opera, in addition to Opera Carolina. In January he will perform the role of Zuniga in Carmen with Opera Carolina and with Toledo Opera in February.

Dr. DuPont’s solo album, The Reaction, was released on Albany Records earlier this year and featured songs by Black composers, many of which had never before been recorded.
