Chris Beorkrem is an Associate Professor in the School of Architecture at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte. He currently serves as coordinator for the Design + Computation Dual Degree and works in the Digital Arts Center in the College of Arts + Architecture. He received his B. Arch from Iowa State and his Masters of Science in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University. He teaches studios and workshops in digital design and fabrication in the School of Architecture. His research has focused on the pursuit of digitally augmented construction processes for recycling industrial by-products and building materials and systems. He published “Material Strategies in Digital Fabrication” from Routledge Press in 2012, which looks at intelligent digital fabrication methods in a post- recession design world.
