Black Box Theater, Robinson Hall

In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. day, the Department of Theatre presents a touring production of Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright August Wilson’s How I Learned What I Learned. This one-man show, performed by guest artist Wali Jamal, follows Wilson from his roots as a struggling writer in Pittsburgh’s Hill District to the completion of The American Century Cycle, a collection of 10 plays that chronicle one hundred years of the African American experience. A Pittsburgh native, Jamal has performed roles in all 10 of Wilson’s American Century plays and is one of only a handful of actors performing this autobiographical tour de force.

Tickets: 18, $12 (UNC Charlotte faculty, staff, and alumni), $10 (seniors, active military, and veterans), $8 (students). CoA+A majors receive a complimentary ticket through the 49erArtsLink program.
