Orchestra: Prayer for Peace

The UNC Charlotte Orchestra, under the direction of Jonathan Govias, presents Prayer for Peace: A Symphonic Remembrance of War, Holocaust, and Hope. The concert features cellist Cicely Parnas and narrator Jay Morong. This event is FREE and takes place in the Booth Playhouse at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center in uptown Charlotte.

On the Banks of Green Willow, by George Butterworth, who died in 1916 in the Battle of the Somme
D'un soir triste, by Lili Boulanger, who died in 1918 of illness in Paris when city was under bombardment
Notre Seigneur en Pauvre, by Sir Ernest MacMillan, a Canadian civilian interned in Germany during WWI
Bestemming: Concerto for Narrator, Cello and Orchestra, by Sharon Farber (b. 1968), a setting of texts by Curt Lowens, the Dutch hero of the Holocaust
