Voice and instrumental students win state auditions to progress to regional level.

Three voice students will advance to the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Mid-Atlantic Region Auditions: Jocelyn Cabaniss, Sarah Freeman, and Trevor May. All three are students of Dr. Sequina DuBose. The Mid-Atlantic Region Auditions will take place March 13-14 at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, S.C.

Three instrumental students won or placed at the recent North Carolina Chapter of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) competitions: Andrew Beiter (trumpet) won the Young Artist Brass Division; Avery Bumgarner (saxophone) won the Young Artist Woodwind Division; and Tori Mitchell (saxophone) came in second place in the Young Artist Woodwind Division. Andrew and Avery will represent the state in their respective categories in the Southern Division competition, a video round in which they will compete against students from across the southeast for a chance to compete at the national level.
