Bachelor of Arts in Dance

What launched your interest in dance?

I began taking ballet classes at four years of age. Dance quickly became my passion and what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.
What are your plans when you graduate? What kind of career do you hope to have?

I hope to have my own school of the arts, including dance, music, and theatre.

What is your favorite thing about the College of Arts + Architecture or the dance department?

My favorite part about UNC Charlotte’s dance department is the level of diversity. I appreciate learning in technique courses but enjoy being educated in various cultures and their history through classes like West African, Afro-Brazilian, Vintage Jazz, Latin Forms and Odissi.

Do you participate in any community cultural activities or work in the Charlotte community?

I am currently taking the “Dance in Community and Engagement” course with Professor Tamara Williams. This class allows me to teach dance to members of the Charlotte community every Friday. We are also planning fun events to share choreographic works and fellowship with the community.

When you are not in class, studying, or rehearsing in the studio, what do you like to do for fun?

When I am not in class, studying, working, or rehearsing, I enjoy going out and spending time in nature. I love our Botanical Gardens, located behind the Fretwell building. I go at least twice a week. I also enjoy hanging out with my friends and trying out new restaurants in Charlotte.
